Hello! My name’s Kyle (he/him).
I’m passionate about writing accessible, exceptional content and copy to support the mission of nonprofits and community-minded businesses like yours so you can:
- Be seen as the expert you are
- Grow your organization alongside your clients and communities
- Increase funding
- Strengthen community connections and trust
I have the skills to create the content and copy you need from the start of the planning process through the promotion of the final project.
Still, I offer much more than thorough research and high-quality writing.
When you work with me, I help you save time and money.
Most nonprofits and small to midsize businesses don’t have an in-house researcher or writer. For these organizations, writing projects mean pulling a project manager, program assistant, or another non-writer away from their usual responsibilities.
Reassigning work duties or projects to other staff can be challenging and time-consuming. You may also end up with upset or overworked staff in the process or need to pause another project in the works.
Staff members who aren’t used to researching or writing may have a steep learning curve, adding weeks or months to a project’s timeline. Plus, if the end product doesn’t meet the high standards of your organization, you’ll spend more money and time editing or rewriting.
Even most communications and marketing specialists with excellent writing skills often have too much on their plate to take on large, intensive writing projects.
Unlike in-house staff, I dedicate 100% of my time to research and writing. My writing fees are a fraction of the cost of hiring a full-time writer. And they come without the headache of onboarding new staff.
I understand what makes copy and content effective.
I can meet tight deadlines without taking time away from other projects.
You can be confident you’ll get the clear, research-driven content and copy you need, on time and within budget the first time.
In addition to my writing skills, I bring an expert eye to your projects.
Just as most in-house staff are not writers, most writers are not subject matter experts (SMEs).
I’m the exception.
I bring a rare combination of technical writing skills and direct client experience in the arts, education, and healthcare.
You won’t need to waste time or energy teaching me the ins and outs (or even the basics) of your field. With nearly two decades of experience working directly with clients, I already get it.
I have firsthand experience dealing with the complexities of nonprofits, community-minded businesses, and the people and communities you serve.
I understand the types of day-to-day joys, struggles, and never-ending to-do lists that come with working to make the world a more just, equitable, and accessible place.
I’m skilled at:
- Being aware of all the little details while never losing sight of the big, holistic picture
- Breaking down tasks into bite-sized pieces
- Highlighting how small changes can lead to considerable results
- Translating jargon into meaningful information
Most importantly, I know the very real impact of systemic barriers on individuals and communities. And I understand how those barriers relate to readability and information literacy in content creation.
I have the skills to shift my writing style to reach everyone from board members to middle schoolers while bringing the same high-quality information.
Additionally, I recognize the vital importance of centering the people and communities served to create content that is truly meaningful and useful.
My happy place exists at the intersection of researching, writing, and amplifying the voices of nonprofits and community-minded businesses working to improve access, reduce harm, and reimagine and rebuild our communities and systems of care in powerful ways.
Let’s work together to create businesses, products, programs, and practices that work for all of us.
